A good model for the melting of granules in a single screw extruder is presented partly I. It is in keeping with observations of earlier workers and retains a number of the suggestions announced by Tadmor in his unit; nevertheless, it assumes that the sound bed of granules cannot stand significant variations of principal stresses therefore account should be used explicitly of the downstream force balance on the stable bed and in the melt pool area. Detailed quasi-analytic email address details are presented for a Newtonian liquid partly II. These illustrate the model for a particularly simple case and also have relevance for some materials. A far more elaborate numerical scheme is described in Part III for a non-Newtonian model and results are presented plastic recycle machine for evaluation with the predictions of additional theories and with experiments.
